The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said the well was drilled by rig EDC 56 in shallow waters about 10 meters deep, approximately 3 kilometers offshore.
Madbouly also said Egypt’s economy recorded 5% growth in the third quarter of the current fiscal year, exceeding the government’s previous estimate of 4.8% despite regional geopolitical tensions.
The Denise W discovery is situated about 70 kilometers offshore in water depths of 95 meters and lies less than 10 kilometers from existing infrastructure, a factor expected to enable rapid and cost-efficient development.
The discovery was made by Apache Corporation in cooperation with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), following the drilling of the SKAL-1X exploratory well in the South Kalabsha area.
